Siphon Draw Fire and Fuels LLC

Hazardous fuels reduction and fire suppression specialists

Siphon Draw Fire and Fuels LLC is a small business specializing in hazardous fuels reduction and fire suppression. We integrate fuel and fire management by implementing science-based practices to address fire risk and ecosystem health.

Our Experience

Managing Director, Alan Sinclair, has 32 years of experience implementing a standardized approach to the command, control, and coordination of emergency response, the Incident Command System (ICS), towards wildland fire and fuels management across the USA and internationally.

Since 2021 and under Alan’s leadership, SDFF has collaborated with cities, towns, and the State of Arizona to reduce fuels and mitigate fire risk.  SDFF engages in fire suppression activities as a Type II crew contracted with the US Forest Service.

Our Approach

At SDFF, we take a holistic approach. We view the project area as a whole and consider how the proposed actions impact ecosystem function and services.  We consider strategies that minimize erosion and/or the spread of invasive species and encourage positive plant-plant and plant-animal interactions. When appropriate, we consider traditional practices associated with the land.

The key to our success is effective communication.  We maintain open lines of communication with our client to ensure our actions are in alignment with the task, purpose, and end-state of each project.

To accomplish this, SDFF focuses on: Research, Readiness, Reduction, Response, and Recovery.

Why Us?

Our crew consists of wildland firefighters capable of performing arduous tasks in steep, uneven, off-trail terrain.  Managing Director, Alan Sinclair, leads the implementation of the ICS towards project planning, management, logistics and communication at SDFF.  SDFF recognizes the need for and benefit of capacity building and it looks forward to contributing to its clients’ efforts towards community protection and wildfire risk mitigation. When possible, SDFF strives to involve local crew members.
